Establish what happened first

Separate a pre-start postponement, an interrupted game and a final cancellation. Check the organizer’s announcement for a new date, resumption or replacement fixture. A headline saying the match is off may not distinguish these situations.

Keep the original participants and fixture identity. The same teams playing a month later may belong to another scheduled round rather than a continuation of the relevant event.

Find the selected market’s own clause

The checked WNBA example keeps a postponed game open until completion and specifies 50-50 for full cancellation without a make-up game. Other reviewed sports terms use No or Other. These differences prevent a universal cancellation rule.

Cards within one event can also ask different questions. A match winner and a player statistic each need their own checks for non-participation, cancellation and eligible results.

Check the waiting cutoff and replacement rules

If a contract has a postponement cutoff, compare the new date with that cutoff. Do not assume the original match date is the waiting deadline. For an unfinished fixture, determine whether a partial result is eligible or resumption is required.

Illustrative example: the permitted waiting period ends on X and the fixture moves to X+2. The exception clause determines what follows, rather than the team’s chance of winning.

Check confirmed settlement separately

A 50-50 settlement differs from refunding a position’s historical purchase price. It is not a match score either. No negates a particular condition, while Other is a separately defined alternative; keep these labels in their contract context.

Label a pending outcome as pending. A fixture disappearing from a schedule or a card closing does not itself establish a confirmed winner to enter in the archive.

FAQ /

Common questions

Does cancellation always refund the purchase amount?

Do not assume that. Read the exceptional outcome and settlement procedure; 50-50 is not a refund at each position’s historical purchase price.

Does a postponement immediately settle the market?

Not necessarily. Some terms allow waiting, while others set a cutoff. The selected contract determines the answer.
